Your Best Case Scenario...
I heard a brilliant quote today, “Your worst case scenario is missing out on the possibility of your best case scenario.” So often we don’t take action towards what we really want because we are deeply afraid of failing. We compile a list of reasons why things aren’t possible and how they won’t work out. We may be drawing on painful experiences from the past in which we experienced deep disappointment, or perhaps we’ve tried things with high hopes of seeing change, but threw in the towel too early when we didn’t see the immediate results we hoped for.
It feels easier to continue on in our lives in a manner that we deem to be safe simply because it’s familiar. But, the reality is that nothing changes if nothing changes. Meaning, if we choose not to take risks, or follow the path that our hearts are nudging us towards, we are very likely to wake up in a year or two not only feeling stuck, but having resigned ourselves to a life or circumstances that keep us unhappy and unfulfilled.
What would your best case scenario look and feel like? What would it produce in your life? How would it bring joy, fulfillment, excitement, levity, fun, creativity and energy? There is a passage from the Old Testament that says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” The word perish in Hebrew refers to a woman’s hair being let out of her hair band, and being tossed about haphazardly by the wind. If we don’t cultivate vision and direction for our lives, guided by our deep dreams and desires, we are sure to feel tossed about by the wind with the result being confusion, disorientation and a loss of hope.
I challenge you to think about the things that you have been too afraid to pursue or change, and write out a list detailing the absolute best case scenario. Allow yourself to embody the feelings of joy, excitement, ease, and fulfillment. Let this vision inform your actions so that you can create the very life you’ve dreamed of. I believe in you wholeheartedly.
Sending all my love. xo
